    Banyon Bridge and Bugnet Zipper

Just got a brand new Banyon Bridge with the removable bugnet, and my first impressions are great. Well build and comfortable. The one issue I seem to be having is zipping up the bugnet once I'm in the hammock. There seems to be way too much tension on the ridge lines and closing the zipper is so difficult I'm concerned its going to break. It gives me the feeling like the bugnet height is too short from top to zipper. I've tried to set it up with different angles at the treestrap and tension on beetle buckles, but all seem to be producing the same effect. Anyone else experience this issue and know of a solution. Thanks much!

I had a similar problem last year and sent an email to Dutch. This was the response that solved my issue.
    ------------------
    Good morning,

I just came back from a 4 day canoe trip using the new Banyan. I noticed the zipper has a lot of tension when zipping it up with me (180 lbs.) in it. It makes the closing difficult and I'm scared of breaking the zipper. I like the Banyan except I'm concerned about the tension. There's no other issues with the hammock. I had it set up with the suspension about 17-20 degrees and played with the angle to see if it would help, but no luck. Would getting the sidesling take the tension off the zipper? Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Joe

A side sling would help however, Let's see if it is necessary. When you are in the hammock, is the ridgelines snug. They won't get tight but they shouldn't dip. If that is good, are you leaning to the side you are closing when zippering it shut. Try putting more weight on the other side when closing. If you are still having issues, try to send me a picture. It is a little tight but it shouldn't be so tight you are pushing the limits of the zipper.

    Dutch

    Hi Dutch,

The ridgelines are snug but not tight. I watched several videos on Youtube including yours about the setup. You may have hit on the problem about weight distribution. I do lean my weight towards the unzipped side when trying to zip it up. Next time, I will shift my weight more to the other side. Thanks!

    Cheers,

    Joe
